This 1981 VDS Lola Can Am car is being restored by GUD Racing's own Craig McCormick. Watch the video of the first fire up of the Lucas injected small block chev.

The car was 003 in a team of 4 cars run by the VDS Racing Team out of Midland, Texas and campaigned in the Can Am Challenge Racing Series. Count Rudy Van Der Straten from Belgium, owner of the Stella Artois brewing company owned the team which still operates from its European base today. The VDS cars still hold road racing track records across the USA today that were set in the 1980's with Mike Roe at the Wheel.

This particular car caught air and flipped backwards in a spectacular crash at Limerock Park with Phil Compton driving in the July 1983 race. Phil discharged himself from hospital later that day and is still around to tell the tale.

Nearly 8 years in restoration the car is nearing mechanical completion using Redline Fluids and Russell Hose and Fittings from GUD Racing Parts
